5 Outfits That Show These Are the Most Versatile Boots

I would guess that if you surveyed 100 people, they probably wouldn’t say that cowboy boots were the shoe style they wore the most—or at all, for that matter. However, I just can’t get enough of them, and over the last 12 months, I’ve worn my favourite vintage pair through all weathers, quite literally. In winter, I tucked in jeans and styled them with a chunky knit; in summer, I paired them with oversize smock dresses and sunnies; then in spring and autumn, I enjoyed wearing them peeking out of wide-leg trousers. That’s not bad going for one pair of boots.

They’re not exactly the shrinking violets of the shoe-and-boot family, so I understand if you find cowboy boots a little too costume-like for your taste. However, there are also plenty of styles to be found that offer a subtler nod to Western-inspired styling via a Cuban heel or embroidered stitching. I personally think you can’t go wrong with a classic black leather pair, which is sure to go with everything you own.

There has been no end to the cowboy-boot outfit inspiration on Instagram this season, and of course, I’ve been making a mental note of each one. You’ve got the likes of Megan Adelaide Vega embracing a casual look with a denim jacket, white jeans and printed cowboy boots, and then Estelle Chemouny similarly keeping her outfit simple but allowing her statement-making boots to be centre of attention. Megan Adelaide always offers up the coolest low-effort but high-impact pairings. These boots are pretty statement-making, so I would just pair them with white jeans.

The T-shirt dress is a popular style for summer 2021, and it looks great with knee-high cowboy boots, as seen on Alyssa.

I’m so into the throwback appeal of this pleated-skirt-and-crew-neck-knit pairing, which is perfectly offset with a pair of secondhand cowboy boots.

This has been my go-to outfit pairing throughout spring, but I plan to swap-in a white tee for when the weather warms.

You might not love the eye-popping hue of Estelle’s aqua boots, but the principle remains: A brightly coloured shoe is an easy way to liven up your wardrobe basics.
