The future of the MCU is looking bright with a variety of ambitious projects on the way, including Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 and Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. But director James Gunn recently revealed that he’s finished the first draft of another cosmic project, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Naturally, Marvel fans had plenty of questions about the Disney Plus TV special and the director was happy to answer a few questions about it.

After explaining that he wrote the treatment for the Holiday Special a few years ago and that it arrives on the streaming service at the end of 2022, director James Gunn revealed when it takes place in the MCU. He confirmed that the TV special takes place after Thor: Love and Thunder but before Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3 – which makes sense since the team are also set to appear in the Taika Waititi film.
