Last week, we got the chance to check out the first thirteen minutes of Mortal Kombat and it showed us just how brutal we can expect the rest of the movie to be. The first scene is very reminiscent of an Akira Kurosawa movie in the way it leads you into a very brutal battle between two Mortal Kombat legends. Check out a spoiler freed description of what happens in the first thirteen minutes of the film.

The first thirteen minutes of Mortal Kombat act as an introduction to two of the most famous video game characters ever – Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The film opens in the 1670s with the introduction of Hiroyuki Sanada’s Hanzo Hasashi and Joe Taslim’s Bi-Han, the two iconic Mortal Kombat legends known as Scorpion and Sub-Zero, respectively. Hanzo looks like he’s living a pretty normal life with his wife and kids until tragedy strikes. Bi-Han appears to be taking on the role of Quan Chi from the classic video games in the reboot and he does some pretty brutal things to the Hanzo clan with his icy abilities, setting up the tone for rest of the film.
