WandaVision producer Jac Schaeffer revealed what was cut from Agatha Harkness’ backstory in the Disney Plus series.
Although WandaVision answered a lot of questions and mysteries surrounding Wanda Maximoff creating the Hex as well as her evolving abilities – there was still some confusion as to how Agatha Harkness got involved in the first place. Kathryn Hahn recently revealed that she’d happily reprise her role as the other witch of Westview in future Marvel projects. And according to Schaeffer, there was a significant part of her backstory which was cut from the show.
But when speaking to Jeff Goldsmith on his podcast, WandaVision producer Jac Schaeffer explained that Agatha Harkness arrived in Westview because she sensed Wanda’s magical abilities. The producer also called her a succubus, taking magic from powerful beings. It sounds similar to what Baron Mordo did at the end of the first Doctor Strange movie, so a team-up between those two wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility in the future – perhaps in the upcoming sequel. Take a look below.
“She sensed [Wanda’s magic] and came to investigate; she was not in Westview. She felt what she terms the ‘afterglow of so many spells cast at once,’ and she’s like… a succubus. She travels looking for powerful beings to take from. So yeah we had done a lot of ideating on like where’s she’s been, what she’s been up to, what her journey has been, and all that. And that didn’t make it into the show because that was the right move, but it was helpful for us to sort of have a bit of a biography for her. But yeah she sniffed it out and showed up and had to figure out what was going on.”
