‘WandaVision’ Producer On Paul Bettany’s Future As White Vision

Paul Bettany White Vision WandaVision

Paul Bettany White Vision WandaVisionWandaVision producer Jac Schaeffer discussed Paul Bettany’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the White Vision.

Now that WandaVision has finally come to a close, many fans are wondering what the arrival of White Vision means for Paul Bettany and any future appearances in the MCU. The finale came with a number of surprising moments, including the reveal that Evan Peters’ Quicksilver wasn’t Pietro Maximoff from another universe, but Ralph Bohner. But when speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Jac Schaeffer addressed the future of Paul Bettany and White Vision.

““It wasn’t about the directive of, where do we leave White Vision? That wasn’t the focus. The focus was, how do you resolve the problem of two Visions fighting each other? Where does that end? They’ll just be fighting each other until the end of time. It became clear to us that it’s got to be a logic battle, right? You’ve got two Synthezoids with the exact same programming. It’s going to come down to logic.”

It was definitely a subversion of expectations to see Vision and White Vision finish their battle using logic instead of their fists in the finale, but make no mistake, Paul Bettany isn’t the same hero that he was before. Schaeffer went on to say that after WandaVision, the new Synthezoid should be treated like an entirely new character, because although he’s got the data from the original Vision “that’s not her guy”. Take a look below.

“The way that we approached it is he’s not– He has the data, but that’s not her guy. That’s not the father of her children. That’s not the man that she’s been in the sitcom world with. At bare minimum, White Vision? Not funny. I don’t know where the characters are going to go, and in the superhero space, I relish that the storylines, like, you’re like, ‘Well, that can continue.’ But that it’s going to be something different. The Vision that she said goodbye to, that’s a complete goodbye. That’s a period on that sentence.”
