Tom Holland Robert Downey Jr. Spider-Man Iron ManRobert Downey Jr. recently admitted he doesn’t want to see Tom Holland play the Spider-Man role for too long.

Tom Holland hasn’t been shy about his desire to play Spider-Man for many years to come, and it’s expected that he will follow the path of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. However, Holland’s contract is up after Spider-Man: No Way Home and he is starting to add diversity to his resume with performances in The Devil All the Time and Cherry.

Ever since Tom Holland’s Spider-Man debut in Captain America: Civil War, Robert Downey Jr. has served as a mentor to the young actor both on the screen and off. In a recent GQ piece, Downey admitted he wants to see Holland eventually retire from the Spider-Man role like he was with Iron Man in the future:

“Look, Tom won’t be playing Spider-Man when he’s 37. At least I hope not. And when you’re in the MCU, there’s a feeling of all life beginning with it and ending it. But there’s life outside too. I can confirm this. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt…What I am saying is there was a Spider-Man before Tom Holland and there will be a Spider-Man after Tom Holland. That’s facts, Tommo. Sorry.”

Do you agree with Robert Downey Jr.? How much longer do you think Tom Holland will play Spider-Man? Comment below!

Peter Parker was last seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks is quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks. Spider-Man and Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) join forces to fight the havoc unleashed across the continent but all is not as it seems.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-Ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding Tom Holland, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content.
