Idris Elba Bloodsport The Suicide Squad James Gunn Superman HBO MaxA new promo for HBO Max included more footage from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad which is set to debut on the service later this year.

Although it’s still surprising that Warner Bros.’ decided release its entire 2021 slate in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously, it’s hard not to be excited for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. A new promo for the streaming service previewed the impressive slate, which also includes Godzilla Vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat. But it also included more footage from The Suicide Squad, including a small rivalry between John Cena’s Peacemaker and Idris Elba’s Bloodsport.

Michael Rooker’s Savant can be heard talking about Task Force X early on in the promo, as well as shots of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn striding along next to her teammates. But the footage ends with Peacemaker and Bloodsport arguing about John Cena’s character showing off. Take a look at new footage from The Suicide Squad in the HBO Max promo below.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on a fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie.
