Prediction: These Zara Buys Are Going to Dominate 2021

When we need a quick wardrobe refresh—something to reignite our fashion fire and make getting dressed exciting again—we know just where to turn; Zara. Always one of the first brands to pinpoint the season’s top looks, Zara is known for starting trends, not merely following them. And right now, there are eight items which Zara is specifically getting right, all of which loan themselves very well to the 2021 aesthetic we’re in the process of forming for ourselves.

Hannah wears a pair of faux leather, split front trousers from Zara.

We’ve still got much of winter to go, and Zara has just made seeing out the next few months feel like a fun sartorial challenge other than a slow crawl to the start of spring. Like many other affordable brands, the 90s is still reigning supreme right now, across just about every product category. Instead of trudging up long-buried, cringe-worthy outfit flashbacks from our youth, Zara’s taken the best of the decade and turned it into a very chic 2021 capsule. The colour palette remains mostly muted, and the silhouettes simple. Still, these pieces are anything but boring. So keep scrolling to see the best Zara buys for 2021, and shop them before they inevitably sell out.

The shacket trend shows no signs of waning, with Zara investing heavily in plaid overshirts for 2021. They never stick around long, though, so you’ll have to move quick to secure the one you want.

We don’t mean to rag on slippers, but there’s something about wearing them, particularly on a work-day, that makes us feel sluggish. Instead, we’ll be investing in a pair of Zara’s cool house shoes, which are significantly chicer to wear when indoors.

The knitted shrugs we wore at every given opportunity in the ’90s are back and, thanks to Zara, they look chicer than ever. We’ll be wearing them with vests and tees until temperatures start to heat up.

Another ’90s trend that isn’t going anywhere in 2021 is ribbed knitted dresses. Look for form-fitting styles and wear with the clunkiest shoes you can find to complete the homage.

Shearling is proving to be a popular fabric in many Zara categories, but it still looks its most premium in coat form. This yellow option is on so many of our editors’ wish lists, so you’ll have competition for it.

Do you ever find yourself in need of a little cuddle, but there’s no one around to (safely) have one with? No problem—Zara’s array of new-in puffed-up, quilted bags will provide such wholesome comfort until you find yourself in need of them for days/evenings out once again.

We don’t need to tell you that 2020 was the year of the cardigan, and thankfully they’re still very much on the style agenda for 2021, too. Zara’s take involves gorgeous embroidered flowers, which give them a homespun feel we simply adore.

Yes, chunky, track-sole boots are everywhere, but for good reason. After a year where practicality became more important than ever, it seems we’re carrying this functional approach through to our outerwear, too. Invest now, and you won’t regret it, especially on icy days.
