Although most fans are eager to see what Sam Raimi will bring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – it’s still disappointing that Scott Derrickson won’t return to the sequel with his unique style. The sequel has quickly become a fascinating project from Marvel Studios since it will connect to the Disney Plus series, WandaVision, as well as Elizabeth Olsen joining the Sorcerer Supreme as Scarlet Witch.

Scott Derrickson recently took to Twitter to briefly explain the reason behind his exit from the Marvel Studios project. The director noted that although he’s faced some hard creative choices over 2020, he wanted to ensure that he would never make someone else’s movie instead of his own. Derrickson originally made the decision after working on The Day The Earth Stood Still, and he’s stuck with his promise. The ambiguous tweet seems to suggest that his plans for the Doctor Strange sequel were vastly different to what Marvel Studios intended to produce. Take a look at the tweet from Scott Derrickson below.
