Marvel Studios confirmed that Xochitl Gomez will play America Chavez opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The future of Marvel Studios is definitely looking bright after the surprising presentation from Disney for its investors. And as fans look towards Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and WandaVision to see how the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will drastically change, Kevin Feige announced that Xochitl Gomez will indeed play America Chavez in the upcoming sequel also starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
When news arrived back in October that Xochitl Gomez had joined the Doctor Strange sequel, it wasn’t clear who the star would play. But as confirmed in the presentation, Xochitl Gomez will be smashing through the multiverse as America Chavez. For those not familiar with the hero, she’s able to punch holes in reality itself in order to travel through to alternate realities, aside from the typical super-strength and flight abilities, of course. Details on Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the sequel. Scott Derrickson is still attached to the film as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi set to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen and Xochitl Gomez.
