Disney has pushed Thor: Love and Thunder several months and has revealed a date for Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron alongside other highly anticipated releases.
As the internet slowly recovers from all the incredible news revealed at the Disney Investor presentation, it’s time to start looking to the future. The company announced a collection of new release dates for some of the most anticipated blockbusters like Thor: Love and Thunder, Rogue Squadron, Black Panther 2, Free Guy and The King’s Man. First up, the Thor sequel from Taika Waititi has been pushed forward from Februrary 2, 2022 up to May 6, 2022 – but it sounds like it will be worth the wait since Christian Bale will play Gorr the God Butcher in the film.
Another Marvel delay comes from Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 2, which has moved to a summer release of July 8, 2022. Although most fans are excited to see Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 when it arrives on HBO Max this month, the director’s Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, is still a long time away. Disney confirmed it will arrive in theaters on December 22, 2023. The studio has also delayed Free Guy, which now arrives on May 21, 2021, with The King’s Man also shifting to March 12, 2021. It’s disappointing news, but given the current global situation, it makes sense that Disney wants to give its biggest releases a little breathing room.
