Buck Rogers Legendary Brian K. VaughanSaga and Paper Girls writer Brian K Vaughan has been picked by Legendary to adapt Buck Rogers into an upcoming TV series.

After the recent news that Legendary won the rights to produce Buck Rogers movies and TV shows, the studio has tapped the critically acclaimed writer Brian K Vaughan as the person to adapt the science-fiction epic into a new TV series. The character has been popular among audiences since 1928, when he first appeared in Armageddon 2419 A.D. written by Philip Francis Nowlan. The story follows Rogers after he falls into suspended animation during a cave-in and wakes up 492 years later in the middle of a war.

With Brian K Vaughan’s expertise at blending huge cosmic tales with human drama, he seems like a perfect fit to usher the Buck Rogers franchise into a new era. The project falls under Vaughn’s overall deal with Legendary. Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce the series alongside Legendary through their Angry Films Banner. Also producing the project is screenwriter Flint Dille, the grandson of the original Buck Rogers publisher, John F. Dille. Most fans will be familiar with Brian K Vaughan through comics like Saga and Paper Girls. He’s also executive producing the Y: The Last Man series from FX, based on the comic series of the same name that he created back in 2002 with Pia Guerra.
