OneWeb Stems from bankruptcy, Intends Worldwide satellite broadband from 2022

OneWeb has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy under new ownership and claims it’ll start launch more broadband satellites following month. Very similar to SpaceX Starlink, OneWeb has been constructing a community of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites which may offer high-speed broadband using considerably lower latencies than conventional geostationary satellites.

Following a launching in December,”starts will last during 2021 and 2022 and OneWeb is currently on course to start commercial connectivity solutions into the UK along with the Arctic area in overdue 2021 and will enlarge to providing international solutions in 2022,” OneWeb stated in an statement Friday.

Back in March this year, OneWeb registered for insolvency and laid off nearly all of its employees. Back in July, OneWeb consented to market the company to a consortium such as the UK authorities and Bharti Global Limited for about $ 1 billion. From the Friday statement, OneWeb stated it’s procured”all applicable regulatory approvals” had to leave bankruptcy.
