With The Suicide Squad gracing the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the plot for the supervillain team-up movie has finally been revealed. The publication’s exclusive interview with director James Gunn as well as executive producer Peter Safran unearthed a goldmine of new information about the upcoming DC film. Safran explained that the team heads to Corto Maltese, a fictional South American nation that’s made appearances in the comics and has played a part in the Arrowverse on occasion.

But Peter Safran didn’t stop there, as the executive producer went on to reveal that the reason the squad is assembled is to retrieve something from a Nazi prison and lab called Jotunheim, which first featured in the comics back in Suicide Squad #1 in 1987. Safran noted that experiments were conducted in the prison, so knowing James Gunn’s style, expect some bizarre and horrific things to pop up once The Suicide Squad ventures inside.

“There they have to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory named Jotunheim, where political prisoners were held and experimentations took place.”
