Wonder Woman 1984 has already faced its fair share of delays even before COVID-19 arrived when the film was originally dated for December 13, 2019. Then the film moved up to November 1, 2019 before being delayed to the summer with a June 5, 2020 release date. Since COVID hit, Warner Bros. has moved Wonder Woman 1984 several times since from August 14, 2020 to October 2, 2020. Gal Gadot’s long-awaited Wonder Woman sequel is now sitting at a Christmas release date for theaters, but with COVID-19 cases on the rise in the United States, it could face its seventh delay.

Director Patty Jenkins recently admitted that she is unsure if Wonder Woman 1984 will arrive on Christmas, but clarified that she is still committed to releasing the DC film in theaters. While speaking to Variety, Warner Bros. chair-CEO Ann Sarnoff revealed they are still planning a theatrical Christmas release for Wonder Woman 1984, but the studio remains cautious since everything is tentative right now due to COIVD-19:

“It really is about how the U.S. continues to open, and whether there are any other surges. We’ve got a little bit of time to figure that out.”
