Michael Keaton Jack Nicholson Batman Joker Tim BurtonMichael Keaton recently opened up about working with Jack Nicholson on Tim Burton’s Batman and revealed he was nervous about working with the legendary actor.

It was revealed over the summer that Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Batman from the Tim Burton films in The Flash solo film starring Ezra Miller. Not much else is known about his role in the film, but concept art was released during DC FanDome teasing that the 69-year-old actor will also don the all-black rubber suit once again.

With Michael Keaton returning to his most iconic role, there’s been a lot of reflection on Tim Burton’s Batman even though the film is over 30-years-old. Keaton was asked during a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers about what it was like to work on the DC film with Jack Nicholson:

“The only thing that happened when I did the first Batman was, I was very nervous and self-conscious about being with Jack, because he’s so strong on film, you know, and it ended up just being great. We became pals and everything.”

Seth Meyers also asked Michael Keaton if he thought Jack Nicholson was aware of how intimidating he might have been on the set of Tim Burton’s Batman:

“I don’t know that I’ve ever thought of it like that. That’s a great question. I would say yeah, he probably was pretty aware of his power. He had so much power on screen, you know, has. It was just cool. He made everybody feel really, really relaxed. Some day, in private, I’ll tell you how he would greet the crew in the morning, but I certainly can’t do it on national television,” he added with a laugh.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on The Flash and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
