The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Derek Kolstad recently teased that we can expect to see some characters from the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe appear in the upcoming Disney Plus series.
An exciting element of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is you never know who may return in a future film. For instance, Red Skull shocked audiences when he appeared in Avengers: Infinity War. In another surprising move, Marvel Studios is also bringing Natalie Portman back as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder. With Marvel Studios also moving into TV with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and others, the possibilities are endless for who we can see next like Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis in WandaVision, for instance.
We already know that The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will see the return of Baron Zemo, Sharon Carter, and Batroc the Leaper—but based on recent comments made by series writer Derek Kolstad during the Script Apart podcast, there might be even more familiar MCU faces in the upcoming show:
“What I will say is that there are characters from the earliest Marvel movies that are coming back. We’re layering them in and reinventing them in a way that’s gonna shift the storytelling structure. It’s f-cking awesome.”
What MCU character do you want to see in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? Abomination? The Leader? Do you think Kolstad is referring to Marvel movies outside of the MCU too? Sound-off in the comments section below!
Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming Marvel Studios series:
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Actors Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly have also been cast.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in August 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
