Jon Favreau Pedro Pascal The Mandalorian Star WarsBoth The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau and its star Pedro Pascal are interested in taking the Star Wars television series to the big screen.

The future of Star Wars appears to be on Disney Plus with the upcoming shows centered on Cassian Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the Bad Batch in the works. We also have the show that started it all in The Mandalorian launching its second season on the streaming service in a matter of weeks.

The live-action Star Wars series is the brainchild of Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal and in a recent interview with Variety, both were asked about the prospect of Din Djarin heading to the big screen. Last year, Disney co-chairman Alan Horn mentioned that The Mandalorian‘s success could warrant a two-hour film. In the interview, Favreau said they are in “no rush” to do a movie centered on The Mandalorian in the future, but also had this to say:

“The line is blurring now. Things that you would have only seen in the movie theater, you’re seeing on streaming, and I think it could go the other way as well. But we’re definitely open to it and excited to see where the story leads us and have that flexibility — because there’s no rulebook now.”

Pedro Pascal also mentioned that he would “love” to do a movie, but isn’t sure if he wants to push The Mandalorian into a different medium yet:

“I think that the work is so beautiful that I would love for that to be held by a big screen experience. But it seems to work so well that also I’m not sure it’s something that I would want corrupted by any kind of change, you know? I mean, I certainly know that the challenge can be met. It’s not like these people don’t have the experience. If anybody can do it, they can!”
