Recently, we have become aware of plenty of plain water on Earth that is deep beneath ice. Sometimes, we have observed this nervously, because it is deep beneath ice sheets, in which it might permeate the sheets’ slip to the ocean. But we have also found lakes which were trapped under ice close to the poles, perhaps for countless years, raising the possibility that they might harbor historical ecosystems.
Today, researchers are employing some of the exact techniques that we have used to locate people under-ice lakes to information from Mars. Along with the results support a previous claim that there are many bodies of water trapped beneath the polar snow of this red planet.
Spotting fluids out of orbit
Mars clearly includes extensive water locked out from the discussion of icehockey, and a few of it cycles through the air as orbital cycles create one pole or another somewhat warmer. But there is not likely to be more pure liquid water on Mars–that the temperatures are not high enough for long, along with the atmospheric pressures are much too low to maintain almost some other liquid water out {} the air.
