Tame Impala Spills Blood Orange Remix of ‘Borderline’: Stream It Now

Kevin Parker is used to being hit up for production work. This time, the Tame Impala maestro taps Blood Orange to rework one his latest and greatest, “Borderline.”

Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) overhauls the single with original instrumentation by the Englishman, does a gear-shift on Parker’s vocals, and drums by Porches’ Aaron Maine.

The result is unrecognizable from the original, which appeared on Tame Impala’s fourth and latest studio album The Slow Rush.

Blood Orange’s reimagined cut is dreamy and organic with a touch of dub. It’s a stoner’s waking dream.

Earlier in the week, Parker and Tame Impala got in the groove for a live performance of “Borderline” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The track is now certified gold in the United States.

Following its release Feb. 14, The Slow Rush bowed at No. 1 in Australia, and went in at No. 3 in the U.S. (a new career high) and U.K.

Blood Orange has a strong connection with the land Down Under. The one-time Test Icicles member lends his considerable talents to another critically-lauded Aussie act, The Avalanches, on the title track to their forthcoming third album We Will Always Love You, due out Dec. 11.
