Alphabet, Google’s parent company, said it has settled that a pair of shareholder lawsuits linked to the provider’s management of sexual harassment claims. Officials will devote $310 million into corporate diversity plans during the next ten years, and the firm agreed to allow its board to undertake a larger oversight function in misconduct cases.
Included in this new arrangement, Alphabet will expand to its existing coverage of”banning severance for anybody terminated for any kind of misconduct,” to add anybody who’s presently under investigation for”sexual misconduct or retaliation,” Google VP of People Operations Eileen Naughton stated in a firm blog article .
The payoff is the result of a merged set of suits investor classes filed from Alphabet at California at 2018, alleging the firm violated its fiduciary duty to shareholders as it kept, and promptly repaid, male executives credibly accused of sexual harassment.
