It was a bizarre weekend to finish a bizarre summer for among the nation’s most poular social networking programs, TikTok. To begin with, in August, the Trump government threatened to prohibit TikTok unless it discovered a US buyer. Next weekend, one time darkened horse Oracle appeared victorious at a federally mandated competition to get TikTok. But it turns out, Oracle is not actually getting TikTok whatsoever –and Oracle and also TikTok’s current parent company, ByteDance, disagree about who’s going to be responsible.

If you are confused, you are in great business. Here is our effort to put out what we all understand about TikTok, Oracle, along with their cryptic bargain up to now.

What’s TikTok?

TikTok is a very popular short-form video program used globally. The program appeared in its present incarnation following its parent firm, Beijing-based ByteDance, obtained US startup Musical.ly at 2017 and incorporated it with its present TikTok product beneath the TikTok title.
