It seems to be a universal truth that anyone who wore a school uniform will find that, in later life, they are unable to wear anything that vaguely resembles said uniform—be it a particular colour, cut, or fabric. For me, this manifested in an aversion to sweatshirts, an item of clothing I wore for the entirety of primary and secondary school. I always envied the pupils at the nearby private school who got to wear fancy V-neck jumpers and blazers rather than our sad, maroon-coloured, and chewed-sleeve sweatshirts (talk about “grass is greener”).
But, fast-forward 14 years, and I may have finally been persuaded to return to this school-age staple thanks to a handful of brands that are making sweatshirts look undeniably chic—oh, and the fact that I’ve spent the last nine months working from home and living in loungewear.
