We are only 25 days into 2021, but I can already say with certainty that pink will be the colour of the year. The spring summer 2021 collections were vast and varied, but designers from all cities were united in what they were aiming to achieve with the clothes they created for spring 2021. They wanted to remind us that clothes can be a source of joy, and so there was an overarching feeling of optimism. The easiest way to promote a positive outlook with clothing is via colour, and although there were a rainbow of punchy brights used for SS21, the most popular colour of all was pink. Designers from major houses such as Valentino and buzzy cult brands like Molly Goddard used a pink palette of watermelons, fuchsias and hot pinks. One of the most iconic looks of the season was Valentino’s oversized shirt in a punchy, vibrant pink, and we lost count of the amount of pink dresses we saw from the likes of Roksanda and Halpern.
