Henry Cavill is waiting by the phone to get the go-ahead from Warner Bros. that he’s returning as Superman.
Man of Steel kicked off the DC Extended Universe in 2013, paving the way for Batman v Superman and Justice League. Despite starting the DCEU, Henry Cavill hasn’t returned as Superman since 2017, leaving him ostensibly out of the franchise. Despite the fallout of the “Snyderverse” behind-the-scenes and Warner Bros. working on multiple Superman projects that don’t involve Cavill, the British star is still hopeful to return as Kal-El in the future.
It’s a sentiment that Henry Cavill has expressed multiple times, even as his career has catapulted to unfathomable heights. In a recent chat with Lorraine to discuss his upcoming sophomore return as The Witcher, Cavill confirmed that he still has the Superman suit just in case Warner Bros. calls him.
“I do still have the outfit. Just in case, yes I do, yes I do. Ready and waiting for the phone calls.”
Henry Cavill then continued by expressing how thankful he was to have gotten the role of Superman and how it will always be something that he’ll fondly look back on.
“Yeah, it was so much fun. It was the kind of thing where even I, after it’s been so long since I put the suit on, professionally. You look back and you think, ‘What a wonderful opportunity. Even if I were to stop acting tomorrow, and go live on a yacht or a steamboat or travel the Med[iteranean]… I can still look back and say I’ve worn a cape and leaped about the place and entertained some people.”
Henry Cavill last played Superman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis for the film:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Both versions of Justice League are available on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of Henry Cavill as Superman, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
