Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series featured a surprising Iron Man villain Easter Egg in the first episode.
Marvel Studios’ newest event series Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner dropped its first two episodes just in time for Thanksgiving weekend. The first two episodes had a sharp focus on establishing one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest heroes: Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). In the first episode, we see her archery skills on display, which revealed a surprising Easter Egg that ties back to the original Iron Man film.
In these Hawkeye screenshots courtesy of TheDirect.com, we see from the scene in which Kate Bishop aims her arrow towards the University Bell at Stane Tower. It also features a plaque, that was rededicated in honor of Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), who is killed in the end of the first Iron Man film:
This particular Easter Egg in Hawkeye is yet another example of the MCU paying off each and every one of their entries in small ways. Clearly, Obadiah Stane wasn’t a big factor in much of the MCU since his demise in Iron Man, although he does make an appearance in the Killmonger-centric episode of What If…?. Seeing this small Easter Egg is just a fun little payoff in world-building within the franchise.
Here is the synopsis for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye:
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh is expected to return in her Black Widow role.
The first two episodes of Hawkeye are now available to stream on Disney Plus, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the Jeremy Renner series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
