An eagle-eyed fan spotted an Avengers continuity mistake in the first episode of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye.
The first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ new original Disney Plus series Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld dropped just in time for Thanksgiving weekend. Now, we got some interesting insight from eagle-eyed fans that noticed a continuity error in the series’ opening scene.
SPOILER WARNING: The following article explores the opening scene of the first episode of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series.
In the opening scene of the first episode of Hawkeye, titled “Never Meet Your Heroes,” we see a young Kate Bishop in her home alongside her parents. This situation occurs on the day of the Battle of New York in 2012 from the first Avengers film. As the Chitauri attack New York City, we see Kate Bishop witness the damage and receive inspiration for her future when she sees Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton take action.
The Avengers continuity error in question involves Stark Tower. When Kate Bishop walks outside to witness Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in the battle, the letters “S”, “T”, “A” and “K” remain intact, with the letter “R” missing. However, the original film shows that the letter “K” was the one that dropped.
Regardless of the continuity error, the opening for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series serves as a great introduction to Kate Bishop. It also adds more gravity to the Battle of New York City that has since been dwarfed in subsequent Avengers films and showcases some of the lasting impact it has left on much of the world.
Here is the synopsis for Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye:
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh is expected to return in her Black Widow role.
The first two episodes of Hawkeye are now available to stream on Disney Plus, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays.
