Eternals star Kit Harington addressed the film’s leaked post-credits scene.
Last week, the red carpet Hollywood premiere of Marvel Studios’ new film Eternals was held. Following the film’s premiere screening, the post-credits scene was spoiled by a select few in attendance on social media. Given that the film wouldn’t hit theaters for another three weeks, marketing executives at Disney were quite upset, and fans were disappointed to hear such spoilers. Kit Harington, who plays Dane Whitman in the upcoming film shared his thoughts on the situation.
Kit Harington is no stranger to preserving secrets to highly-anticipated projects. Perhaps most notable for his role as Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones, staying tight-lipped is something he’s familiar with. In a recent interview with The Playlist, he expressed his disappointment that the post-credits scene from Eternals was spoiled so early:
“I honestly didn’t know it had. I’ve lived in a world where spoilers happen for a long time. I realize they can happen. It’s just disappointing that people do it. Let people go to the cinema and experience it when they pay for their ticket and do it that way, rather than spreading it online where they might not realize they’re coming across stuff.”
Eternals was already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing new entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially with a filmmaker of a distinct vision like Academy Award-winner Chloe Zhao. With her involvement as well as the rest of the cast including Kit Harington, many surprises were certainly in store. It is always a bummer to see anyone spoil the big surprises for audiences, especially when given the privilege to attend the premiere.
Here is the synopsis for Eternals:
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywoods YouTube channel for more original video content.
