Michael B Jordan’s upcoming Superman Val Zod project has added writers Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters for the HBO Max adaptation.
The road to Michael B Jordan’s own Superman project has been a long and bizarre one. The actor reportedly pitched Warner Bros on a rebooted Superman project starring himself as a new version of the Man of Steel. Nothing appeared to have come from that project and it appeared to have fizzled out in favor of the JJ Abrams/Ta-Nehisi Coates project. That was until June when it was revealed that the actor was doing his own Superman film focusing on the character of Val Zod for HBO Max, separate from the JJ Abrams project.
In the comics, Val Zod is, like Clark Kent, a Kryptonian who survived the planet’s destruction and came to Earth to become Superman. Unlike the original Man of Steel, the character is portrayed as black and many have wondered when or if the character would get the live-action treatment. Little has been revealed about Jordan’s new DC project but now we know who will write the upcoming HBO Max project.
According to a new report, Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters are set to write Michael B Jordan’s upcoming Val Zod project. Both writers are relatively new to Hollywood but have landed several deals with Amazon and Apple for a Hannibal Barca series and the film The Nola with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi set to helm the project. The two are also writers on the upcoming film, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts which is set to debut next year.
