Last week, Google obtained OS seller Neverware, manufacturers of this CloudReady supply of ChromiumOS. ChromiumOS is your completely open origin, abbreviated variant of ChromeOS–that the harshly limited, cloud-focused functioning system that Chromebooks and Chromeboxes operate on.
The purchase seems fantastic on paper–Google has more funds than Neverware, such as but not confined to the programmer base for ChromeOS itself. Based on Neverware’s FAQ about the transition, large G will honor all present license arrangements and doesn’t have any present plans to curtail accessibility of their free House variant of CloudReady.
All this great news includes”now” caveats on each single bullet point, sadly –that strikes us as a little unnerving, coming as it does immediately following Red Hat announced that it had been killing off CentOS Linux and substituting it using CentOS Stream.
