There’s nothing that makes us quite as excited as the discovery of an affordable item that could easily pass as designer. This week, this moment came in the form of a jumper courtesy of high street stalwart Marks and Spencer. Of course, good ‘ol M&S has always been prized for its cashmere offering, but when I saw this particular striking ombre number, I couldn’t help but yelp with excitement (it’s my job, okay?)
Coming in a statement-making shade of red, but with a classic crew neck silhouette, there’s something about this jumper than just feels so premium. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s impactful without being obviously ‘trend-led’, and the cashmere fabric makes it feel undeniably luxurious. I also think it’s the sort of style that will look good for many seasons to come.
Both WWW editor Emma Spedding and I were desperate to try the jumper on IRL, and luckily we got that chance. I can confirm it looks even better in person. Just to prove its versatility we’ve styled the M&S knit a number of different ways, all perfect for the autumn season. Scroll down to see our outfits and shop the jumper.
Style Notes: I recently bought this mini skirt from Vestiaire Collective and I’ve been so excited about experimenting with the styling. The burst of colour from the M&S knit makes for a perfect counter-balance to the black hue, and my Kurt Geiger chunky boots keep the whole thing from looking too corporate.
Style Notes: Emma wears her jumper with a satin slip skirt from Vince and a pair of black knee-high boots from Arket. Brown, red and orange aren’t colours we’d usually pair together, but with the gradiant effect this blends together so well.
Style Notes: I never used to be much of a colour lover, but I have to say that I’ve fully converted myself to the easy, mood-boosting appeal of a bright jumper. The ombre M&S knit adds instant personality to a classic pair of straight leg jeans and loafers.
