Midnight Mass star Rahul Kohli says he isn’t opposed to joining the MCU if the story is right.
The internet has practically become obsessed with Rahul Kohli’s Sherrif Hassan in Netflix’s Midnight Mass. The horror miniseries has quickly become one of the most talked-about and believed miniseries of the year, making it in another home run for writer and director Mike Flanagan. With Kohli’s character at the center of every Midnight Mass conversation, fans can’t help but wonder what’s next for the British star.
In a chat with Men’s Health, Rahul Kohli was asked if he would be interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kohli, a self-appointed geek if you scroll through this Twitter, is a huge MCU fan and would take on a role if the story and character were right for him.
“Oh yeah, you’d be an idiot not to. I’m so immersed in comic book culture, and sci-fi culture. Yeah, I’d absolutely want to. I think I’d want it to be the right thing. They’re such beloved characters. I wouldn’t do it or the sake of doing it. I’d do it if I really, truly felt like I could bring something to this character that would be respectful to its comic book origins, and stuff like that. I’m not desperate to just have a line in a Marvel show. I’m good. I’ll be fine. But if the right kind of portrayal came along — because once you do one…you’re in. And very rarely do you get to have a second bite of the apple.”
The Midnight Mass breakout star is no stranger to genre fare as he’s previously appeared in The CW’s iZombie, which is an adaptation of a Vertigo/DC comic. Kohli has also lent his talents to Supergirl and The Rocketeer. Kohli’s popularity makes him the perfect candidate for the MCU but we’re not sure who we could play. Kohli has previously (albeit jokingly) expressed interest in starring as the MCU’s Reed Richards for Fantastic Four.
The next MCU film is Eternals. Here is the synopsis for Eternals:
“When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.”
Chloé Zhao directed Eternals from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Rahul Kohli, the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
