Senate may Affirm Trump FCC nominee Second week, Beating 2-2 deadlock

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Has transferred to end debate within a Trump nomination which could deadlock that the Federal Communications Commission, establishing a vote which could occur as soon as a week.

McConnell yesterday filed a cloture motion on Trump’s nomination of Republican Nathan Simington into the FCC. McConnell’s movement came after the Senate Commerce Committee voted 14-12 and party lines ahead of the nomination to the entire Senate.

“In case Simington is supported, the FCC will originally be deadlocked 2-2 between Democrats and Republicans when Democratic President-elect Joe Biden takes office. Some officials believe the Senate may not affirm [that a Biden] appointee to the commission for weeks, or even longer,” Reuters composed .
