Senate Republicans are racing to affirm President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Federal Communications Commission so as to make a 2-2 deadlock for its Biden FCC.
At an 14-12 party-line vote now, the Senate Commerce Committee accepted Trump’s nomination of both Nathan Simington. In case Simington is supported by the entire Senate, then the FCC will be deadlocked in two Republicans and 2 Democrats following the forthcoming departures of both Chairman Ajit Pai along with Michael O’Rielly. To have a 3-2 majority on the FCC,” President-elect Joe Biden would need to nominate a Democrat after accepting office and expect that the Senate supports the nomination.
Senate Democrats said now that Simington isn’t qualified to become an FCC commissioner which he misrepresented his job from the Trump management throughout the committee’s verification procedure.
