Neill Blomkamp responded to Dune director Denis Villenueve’s comments dismissing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Earlier this week while promoting his new film Dune, Denis Villenueve shared his thoughts on the MCU. The filmmaker admits that he’s not the franchise’s biggest fan, expressing that he feels that most of the films are too similar (he did however praise the addition of Eternals director Chloe Zhao). Naturally, the “Is MCU real cinema?” hornet’s nest was kicked yet again on the internet, with both sides of the argument entering the discourse once again. Now, filmmaker Neill Blomkamp shared his two cents.
Neill Blomkamp, known for directing sci-fi films such as District 9, Elysium and Chappie had some interesting words for the Dune director’s comments on the MCU, but the story is not what it seems on the surface. Here’s the initial tweet:

Denis Villeneuve directed Dune from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. The film stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and David Dastmalchian.
