Peacemaker scribe and director James Gunn has shot down rumors that suggest Bane will appearing in the HBO Max show.
The Suicide Squad debuted earlier last month, introducing fans to John Cena’s Peacemaker, an irreverent parody of Captain America. The patriotic but brutal character is set to get his own television series in the form of Peacemaker, which is set to explore the character’s origins, as well as the events after his fallout from Task Force X.
Details on the series are slim, and while it’s coming out sooner than expected (January), rumors have already begun circulating around potential DC characters that will pop up in the series. One name that has been consistently brought up is Bane, one of Batman’s most nefarious villains.
James Gunn didn’t let the fun get out of hand as he debunked the rumor that said Bane would show up in his upcoming series. The director did remark that he enjoys Bane as a character and wouldn’t be opposed to bringing the hulking beast into his HBO Max series
James Gunn doubled down on debunking the Bane rumor, revealing that the character doesn’t show up in the series, nor does he have any lines.
Details are, once again, slim on the Peacemaker series, but it is expected that we’ll get our first look at the John Cena series at this year’s DC Fandome. As for who the series’ big bad will be? Only time will tell.
Here is the synopsis for The Suicide Squad:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.
The Suicide Squad is out now in theatres and HBO Max, while Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max in January 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on John Cena’s Peacemaker series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
