Tesla will eventually be added into the S&P 500 Indexthe committee in charge of its indicator declared after markets closed on Monday. The change will have effect on December 21.

Folks have trillions of dollars in index funds which track the S&P 500 indicator. This usually means that if a stock is inserted into this S&P 500, finance managers need to add it for their own portfolios, forcing the inventory.
