Apple has reprimanded one of its biggest producers following a Financial Times analysis found that tens of thousands of student interns had worked tirelessly to build iPhones, in breach of law.
After being contacted with the FT, Apple said it had ceased lending”new company” into Pegatron, its own second-largest iPhone assembler following Foxconn. But, employees there said that the mill was {} new products before the holidays.
Apple is rushing to compensate for production flaws earlier in the year brought on by the pandemic. The most recent revelations of distribution chain abuses will become an embarrassment to the business through its longest period for fresh product launches years. The hottest iPhone 12 versions are made to go on the market Friday, two weeks later than usual. In an event on Tuesday, Apple can be expected to show new Mac computers.
