Leslie Grace has now opened up about joining the DC Universe after the news broke on Wednesday of her playing Batgirl in the upcoming solo film set for HBO Max.
A Batgirl solo film has been in the works for some time at Warner Bros. with writer Christina Hodson, but the project has taken some major strides as of late. Namely, the Batgirl film slated for HBO Max tapped Bad Boys for Life and Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
On Wednesday, it was reported that In the Heights star Leslie Grace beat out Zoey Deutch, Haley Lu Richardson, and Isabella Merced for the role of Barbara Gordon in the Batgirl solo film. Grace later reacted to the news of joining the DC Universe on Twitter, and you can check it out below:
I am BEYOND EXCITED to embody Barbara Gordon, your #Batgirl ! I cannot believeeee what I’m writing rn… THANK YOU DC for welcoming to the family! I’m ready to give her all I’ve got! https://t.co/muq9GuVVk6

The next Gotham City-based movie is The Batman, which is shrouded in secrecy. We know that the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Follow Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding HBO Max’s Batgirl and the other DC projects in development at Warner Bros. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
