The Stylish Loungewear Looks You’ll Want to Wear All Winter Long

Over the last century, there have been various manifestations of loungewear—from the elegant peignoirs of the early 20th century to the silken co-ords of the ‘70s to the ’90s penchant for underwear as outerwear. Fast forward to the modern-day, and we’ve seen an altogether more elevated approach to loungewear come to the fore.

The moment I saw that cooler-than-thou womenswear brand Joseph were stocking tracksuit bottoms and souped-up sports hoodies, I knew something was shifting. I wouldn’t usually consider myself a lover of sporty styles, but there was something so undeniably chic about these camel-coloured (and ultra-comfy) pieces.

My suspicions were confirmed when I turned to Instagram and saw the latest outfit shots from our fave influencers, who were working from home and clad in knitted trousers, chic jogging bottoms, cosy co-ords and cashmere hoodies. They might not be your usual fashion-girl getups, but in our opinion, they look just as good as their usual extroverted ensembles. Scroll down for our favourite loungewear looks.

Style Notes: Sometimes you can’t go wrong with the classics, and in this case it’s white jeans and a feel-good colourful knit.

Style Notes: It might be chilly outside, but Lucy makes a jaunt around the garden look undeniably chic in her chunky cardi and shorts.

Style Notes: Everyone is obsessed with knitted co-ords right now (perhaps because they are the ultimate cosy yet pulled-together pairing). Make like Monikh and wear yours with minimal adornments: gold hoops or a pendant necklace will do.

Style Notes: Leia styles our fave comfy jumper trend, the zip-up knit, with a pair of split hem leggings and new balance trainers. So simple yet so effective.

Style Notes: Stacey Dooley has got to be one of our loungewear muses, as she has refined the art of pairing laid-back staples with polished separates. Just look at the way that she’s paired these high-tech trackies with a camel knit and gold jewellery.

Style Notes: There’s nothing we don’t love about this Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ensemble. The key to its success lies in the textural contrast between the fine-knit jumper and silken trousers. The fabric combination makes it look so stylish.
