Is It Just Me, or Do All the Coolest Dresses Come in This Shade?

Back in spring, fashion analytics platform Lyst reported that green was on its way to becoming the colour of 2021, with searches for the hue rising 41% in the space of a month. I am certainly not immune to the draw of the shade, and I have found myself going green in all areas of my life: from interiors purchases to new-season accessories. There has, however, been something particularly alluring about the green dress, and while I haven’t always been the biggest fan of frocks, the recent slew of grass-coloured pieces has piqued my interest.

Case in point: One of my favourite summer purchases is a two-tone green-and-navy dress from Staud, which feels fun and unique from some of the other styles around at the moment. Thankfully, there are so many more dresses where that came from, and various brands, from H&M to Ganni, have been offering up their own iterations on the trend. COS’s green gathered dress has been a particular hit with the Who What Wear team, and its sculptural silhouette and paintbox bright shade are sure to stand out from the crowd. If you want to ease yourself in, then there are also plenty of sage styles, which will blend seamlessly with the neutrals in your wardrobe. Or you could try green gingham or candy stripe (see Ganni’s amazing smock dress) to inject a little print into your summer capsule.  Scroll down to see how influencers are wearing their green dresses, and shop my edit.

Ganni’s candy stripe green dress has been a fave of the Instagram crowd.

I love the lime-green shade of Nnenna Echem’s knitted dress, which conveniently matches her very chic bedding.

For a no-holds-barred look, get inspired by Ellie Delphine of Slip Into Style, and match your green dress to your jacket.

House of Sunny’s green lily pad dress has to be one of the more high-profile styles of the year.
