The End of the F***ing World creator Jonathan Entwistle is taking the reins of the Power Rangers franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Jonathan Entwistle has signed on to develop the next series of Power Rangers adaptations. According to the trade, Entwistle is set to oversee and direct future Power Rangers film and television projects for eOne, a production banner that was recently acquired by Hasbro.
eOne’s Nick Meyer and Michael Lombardo had the following to say regarding Jonathan Entwistle:
“Jonathan has an incredible creative vision for this iconic and hugely successful franchise, and is hands down the right architect to join us as we reimagine the television and film worlds of this property. Across our slate, we are looking forward to working with the most talented storytellers as we take on Hasbro’s rich fan-favourite brands and build entertainment universes around them.”
The Power Rangers were last seen on the big screen in 2017. The film, which was produced by Lionsgate back when the the rights to the franchise still belonged to Saban, featured Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin, RJ Cyler and Becky G. It underperformed at the worldwide box office, grossing $142.3 million against a $105 million budget.

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Directed by Dean Israelite, Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and Elizabeth Banks. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
