Concept art from Zack Snyder’s Justice League shows off a deformed DeSaad.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League made a huge splash earlier this year by finally giving fans all around the world the storied Snyder Cut. With a runtime of four hours and filled to the brim with lesser-known characters like Ryan Choi and DeSaad, the film was a love letter to DC and Snyder fans. The production of the film is infamous and the final product went through several incarnations before Zack Snyder got the opportunity to create the version he wanted. Just as the film had multiple versions, so did the characters inside the film.
Zack Snyder’s version was heavily praised for its dark and moody visuals and character designs, with particular praise going towards the residents of Apokolips. DeSaad, Darkseid’s right-hand man who communicates with Steppenwolf throughout the film was singled out by many by having a uniquely regal and grotesque design. Justice League concept artist Jerad S.Marantz shared an early design of DeSaad that shows the Darkseid aide looking exceptionally deformed and far more menacing than the one we saw in the film.
What are your thoughts on this DeSaad concept art? Do you prefer Marantz’s version or the one seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League?
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, JK Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
