Warner Bros. Announces Two New ‘Harry Potter’ Specials

Two new Harry Potter specials are on the way from Warner Bros. which are set to celebrate the magical franchise.

Harry Potter might be one of the most famous franchises of all time, but it’s been a while since we last took a trip through the Wizarding World. The second Fantastic Beasts film debuted back in 2018 (and wasn’t exactly well received by fans or critics) and obviously work had stalled on the third film due to the ongoing pandemic. But Warner Bros. is working on celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in style with two new specials.

As confirmed by the official Wizarding World website, Warner Bros. is working on two unscripted Harry Potter specials, the first of which will be a quiz show to test the knowledge of franchise’s biggest fans. While the second will be a retrospective look at the entire series so far and celebrating it for all it has to offer. The two specials will debut on HBO Max, Cartoon Network and TBS. Meanwhile, the next time we see the world on the big screen, Mads Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp as the villain Gellert Grindelwald.

What do you make of the Harry Potter news? What else do you want to Warner Bros. to do with the franchise? Sound-off in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for the most recent entry in the Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald:

At the end of the first film, the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise wizards and witches up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Directed by David Yates from a script written by J. K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Harry Potter franchise and Warner Bros., and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
