Justice League director Zack Snyder revealed what his plans were for Green Lantern in future sequels to the DC film.
Fans were recently surprised to find out that Zack Snyder shot a scene with Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart A.K.A Green Lantern for his Justice League cut, and now the director has opened up about what he had planned for the hero. The film still featured a nod towards to the Green Lantern Corps, with Yalan Gur appearing in the flashback and Kilowog’s dead body showing up in the Knightmare timeline.
During a recent Q+A session, Zack Snyder even revealed what John Stewart’s Green Lantern suit would’ve looked like in Justice League, but obviously Warner Bros. has other plans for the cosmic character including a leading role in the Green Lantern Corps movie. While speaking to Uproxx about Army of the Dead and the Snyder Cut, the director explained that he always wanted to use the character, revealing that he would’ve been the team’s scout as well as the one to bring the Corps to Earth to fight Darkseid. Take a look below.
“Well, you know I shot it, right? I shot John Stewart. So, yes, I wanted to use him. So basically what was going to happen is he had two roles. One, we would have seen him in the post-apocalyptic world. He was kind of like their scout and kind of like their, you know, ‘join the team.’ And then in the final battle against Darkseid, he would have gotten the Green Lantern Corps and organized them to fight against Darkseid. Those would have been his jobs.”
What do you make of Zack Snyder’s plans for using John Stewart and the Green Lantern Corps? Are you disappointed we didn’t get to see Wayne T. Carr as the hero in Justice League? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
