DCEU director Zack Snyder shared his plans for John Stewart and the Green Lantern Corps in the scrapped Justice League sequels.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League was clearly setting up Darkseid’s takeover of Earth in a few ways. Snyder was also originally going to tease Green Lantern with Wayne T. Carr in the John Stewart role before Warner Bros. shot it down. The comic book movie auteur is now letting loose after moving on from the DCEU by recently sharing what Green Lantern was going to look like in the Snyder Cut.
All roads in the DCEU were originally going to lead to the Knightmare universe we’ve seen briefly in Batman v Superman and the Snyder Cut. Based on the original plans shared at a Texas exhibit, we also know that the Justice League trilogy would culminate in an epic battle against Darkseid. While taking to Uproxx, Snyder recently explained what John Stewart’s role was going to be in the final two films:
“So basically what was going to happen is he had two roles. One, we would have seen him in the post-apocalyptic world. He was kind of like their scout and kind of like their, you know, “join the team.” And then in the final battle against Darkseid, he would have gotten the Green Lantern Corps and organized them to fight against Darkseid. Those would have been his jobs. “
Do you think Zack Snyder will eventually release the Justice League scene he shot with Green Lantern? Sound-off in the comments section below!
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, JK Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
