Alfred Molina recently shared new details about his return as Doctor Octopus in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
When it was reported that Jaime Foxx and Alfred Molina would be back as Electro and Doctor Octopus, that opened the flood gates for what fans were expecting from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3. No official word yet on whether Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield will return, but it feel like the worst kept secret.
In a recent interview with Variety, Alfred Malina discussed his return as Doctor Octopus for the first time and what it was like coming back as the Spider-Man villain 17 years later:
“When we were shooting it, we were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret. But, you know, it’s all over the internet. I actually described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood! It was wonderful. It was very interesting going back after 17 years to play the same role, given that in the intervening years, I now have two chins, a wattle, crow’s feet and a slightly a slightly dodgy lower back.”
Later in the interview, Alfred Molina recalled his early conversations with director Jon Watts and revealed No Way Home will pick up Doctor Octopus’ story following his “death” in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. Molina teased he will be de-aged in the film as well.
