A new design sees Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke stepping into the Mera costume to replace Amber Heard in Aquaman 2.
With Dolph Lundgren seemingly confirming that production on Aquaman 2 starts this summer, many fans are still debating whether Amber Heard should return as Mera in the highly-anticipated sequel in the aftermath of her recent legal battles with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Since the star left his role in the next Fantastic Beasts film, some think that it’s only fair that Amber Heard does the same with Aquaman 2. But this would leave a huge question in who should pick up the role, with many suggesting Emilia Clarke as the perfect star to replace Amber Heard in the DCEU.
New fan art from ‘jph_photoshop’ on Instagram gives Emilia Clarke a Mera makeover for Aquaman 2, giving the Game of Thrones star the signature red hair which has been synonymous with the character ever since she was created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy way back in 1963’s Aquaman #11. The art also sees the star wear the bright green Atlantean body suit Amber Heard wore in the first film. Take a look at Emilia Clarke stepping into the Mera role for Aquaman 2 below.
