Jensen Ackles will voice the Dark Knight in Batman: The Long Halloween, and now Part 1 has been given an official release date.
With a new animated Batman movie on the way comes an all new voice cast boasting the likes of Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles as the Caped Crusader and the late Naya Riviera as Catwoman. The movie is based on the classic storyline from the comics, The Long Halloween, which features Batman at the beginning of his crime-fighting career. The first trailer for the film teased the comic-accurate adaptation with plenty of action-packed footage.
Jensen Ackles is no stranger to playing members of the Bat-Family, since he voiced Jason Todd/Red Hood in one of the most critically acclaimed DC animated movies, Batman: Under the Red Hood. He’s also playing another hero in the third season of Amazon’s The Boys, Soldier Boy. Luckily, there isn’t long to wait until we hear more from his version of the Dark Knight, as a press release from Warner Bros. has confirmed the film arrives on digital and home release on June 11. It’ll also come with an animated short based on The Losers comic book, which previously had a live-action adaptation in 2010 starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana.
