NIS America has released a brand new trailer for their absolutely bonkers-looking murder mystery shmup (yes, really) Yurukill: The Calumniation Games. Penned by famous manga writer Homura Kawamoto, the game sees a group of convicted detainees at the Yurukill land, a twisted amusement park headed up by the mysterious guide Binko. These detainees and their partners, called “Executioners”, must solve puzzles in order to prove their innocence and escape the park.
It’s impossible to overstate just how jam-packed this game looks. With a Danganronpa-esque killing game premise, tense puzzle sections straight out of the Zero Escape games, and bullet hell segments created by G.rev, veteran shmup developer of Border Down, Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+, and Under Defeat HD, there’s nothing else like it. We get a glimpse of those vertical shooter sections in the above trailer, too, and they look every bit as polished as we’d expect.
